Alas, all to no avail. From the logs, it appears that IPSEC connects however the L2TP part then seems to not do a thing. The basic configuration is: I am in the process of setting up a L2TP VPN. I had a PPTP setup, but I read it was not very secure. Here is what I have: Modem>pfsense>Switch>VPN Server. I cannot pass L2TP traffic through to the VPN server right now - but I can see it hitting the pfsense box. The server's firewall is turned completely off for now. Aug 24, 2015 · I'd post to the pfsense forums/IRC to get their input on pfsense as a VPN only endpoint behind something like Meraki. Pfsense is a VERY solid platform; Meraki is pretty but I found it to be quite limited. Both the site from this post and my 9-5's site have been running 24/7 since these posts, without issue on pfsense.
